Rishabh Pant Joins LSG for 27 Crore in IPL 2025

Rishabh Pant, India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, has etched his name in history as IPL’s most expensive player, joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record-breaking ₹27 crore. After nine memorable seasons with Delhi Capitals, Pant embarks on a new journey, promising to bring his flair and leadership to LSG in IPL 2025.

Rishabh Pant, India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, made history at the IPL 2025 mega auction. 

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) signed him for a staggering ₹27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. 

Delhi Capitals (DC), his home since 2016, exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card but could not outbid LSG.

Pant shared an emotional message for DC fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support over nine seasons.

 “The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it. I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and we grew together over the last nine years,” Pant wrote in a special note in.    

 “What made this journey all worthwhile is you. The fans…You’ve embraced me, cheered for me and stood by me in one of the toughest phases of my life.” Expressed Rishabh..

 “As I move on, I carry your love and support in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertain you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so special,” Pant concluded.  

Despite his move, Pant assured fans he would continue entertaining them on the field.

Pant’s Journey with Delhi Capitals

Pant debuted in the IPL with DC in 2016, quickly becoming their most dependable player. 

His best season came in 2018, where he amassed 684 runs at a strike rate of 173.60, including a century. 

Over eight seasons, he scored 3,284 runs in 111 matches, including 18 half-centuries.

Returning in IPL 2024 after recovering from a car accident, Pant showcased resilience and brilliance.

He scored 446 runs at an impressive strike rate of 155.40, proving his form despite challenges. His leadership and performance will now strengthen LSG in IPL 2025.

LSG’s Captaincy Prospects: Pant in Contention

LSG has yet to name their captain for IPL 2025, with several candidates in the running. 

Alongside Pant, Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Mitchell Marsh are contenders. 

However, Pant’s leadership experience and record with DC make him the frontrunner.

Pant’s addition not only boosts LSG’s batting lineup but also provides tactical depth. 

Fans eagerly await the team’s announcement and Pant’s potential captaincy debut for his new franchise.
