There is a lot of buzz about the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2025. Nicholas Pooran was being looked at as a strong contender after retention for 21 crore; however, things got tricky between him and the franchise whose record was beaten after buying Rishabh Pant for whopping 27 crore. This was further hyped by a social media post from the franchise on X (formerly Twitter). Reference to ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, Pooran is called ghar ke mukhiya and later in the video, the franchise calls Pant a unique styled and aura-ed person.
It went viral traffic fast on social media, and it had many fans who clearly had the impression that it was meant to prove Pooran the captain of the side in the forthcoming battle.
This two-day IPL 2025 Mega Auction registered record moments by signing Rishabh Pant for the whopping 27 crores by Lucknow Super Giants to an Rs 8 crore signing recorded for the youngest player in the tournament Vaibhav Suryavanshi who is just 13 years old.
Winning the bidding war against Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals roped in the teenager at Rs 1.10 crore.
Before the 2025 IPL season, the 10 teams spent Rs 639.15 crore on signing 182 players through the auction, including 62 foreign players.
Apart from Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer also got much bigger deals of Rs 26.75 crore and Rs 23.75 crore from Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.
Among others, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal received identical price tags of Rs. 18 crore from Punjab Kings while Jos Buttler was roped in by Gujarat Titans for Rs. 15.75 crore to feature in the top buys of the auction.
