Virat Kohli needs 1 more century in Border-Gavaskar series to break this HUGE record

With 7 Test centuries so far against Australia Down Under, it is safe to say that Virat Kohli loves playing against the Baggy Greens in their own backyard. Kohli has so far scored 7 tons in just 14 Tests in Australia, massively contributing to the Men in Blue’s recent success in the country.

Kohli came into the crucial Border-Gavaskar series under pressure, following a dismal batting display against New Zealand. Despite this, the star batter regained his form and scored a brilliant century at the Optus Stadium in Perth to help India set a humongous target of 534 for the hosts, who got bundled out for 238 and lost the match by a huge margin of 295 runs.

If Kohli does manage to score another century in the upcoming Adelaide Test then he will break a massive record. The 36-year-old will overtake legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar and will become the player with the most tons in Border-Gavaskar series history. Currently both Kohli and Tendulkar stand on 9 tons each in the coveted series.

Players Centuries in BGT
Sachin Tendulkar 9
Virat Kohli 9
Ricky Ponting 8
Steve Smith 8
Michael Clarke 7

Another record that Kohli will be eyeing to break with this series is for most international hundreds by a visiting batter in a country. This record has been held for 76 years by legendary Australia batter Sir Don Bradman, who scored 11 tons against England in their own backyard.

Kohli is currently second with 10 centuries against Australia Down Under. If the 36-year-old scores 2 more tons in the ongoing series against the Aussies, then he will overtake Bradman and break the record.
