Bristol City players got in a post-match scuffle with James McClean after Wrexham’s 2-0 win in the Championship on Wednesday.
Wrexham extended their league winning streak at home to four matches and their unbeaten run to seven games, seeing them climb up to 10th in the Championship.
Nathan Broadhead gave Wrexham the lead with his 4th goal of the season on 16 minutes. Just before half-time, Bristol City had a goal disallowed after Emil Riis fouled Wrexham keeper Arthur Okonkwo in the build-up to Ross McCrorie’s finish.
Wrexham doubled their advantage when George Thomason’s inswinging corner struck Bristol City keeper Radek Vitek and went in as an own goal.
The loss, which became Bristol City’s second away defeat this season, saw them drop to 7th, one point outside the playoffs.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, per BBC Sport:
“I thought first 35 minutes we were really good then they came into it which you’d expect, they’re a good side.
“In the second half, they had moments but we had some great chances ourselves to take the game away from them.
“But all in all, I thought we built from the weekend. We spoke to the lads after the Ipswich game about having a really good structure, work ethic and team togetherness. But it was about if could we now get back to that quality in possession ourselves, and I thought we did that tonight.”
Parkinson, per Sky Sports:
“I’d rather be where we are than any lower, but I still like to be higher.
“But we’re just working towards the process of performance levels on a game-to-game basis, adapting the team, the shape, and the personnel within that to give ourselves the best chance of getting results.
“It’s a good night but I think we’ve to be really careful we don’t get carried away with it. But we won’t, and we’ll be ready to put in a good performance at the weekend.”
Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber, per BBC Sport:
“I was really frustrated with how cheaply we lost this game.
“I would say we had a bit of a different shape, and in this shape, you need everyone in both directions to invest.
“The performance must be better, it’s our own responsibility, but at the same time, I wish the referees have a little bit more experience in a game like that.”
Struber, per Sky Sports:
“I’m really frustrated how cheaply we lost this game. The first goal was really cheap. How we closed back was not really good, it was too late, a little bit sleepy. Not the typical face from us.
“The aggression we wanted against them was, in this moment, not on the highest level.
“After that we changed the shape and found more momentum and it makes me unhappy that we didn’t score goals. When we have so many good moments we should to score a goal but we were not sharp enough.”
