After the historic defeat in Perth Test, Marnus Labuschagne suffered a lot of criticism as he has not been in his best form.
The Australian team received criticism after the historic defeat at the Perth Stadium in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. A lot of former cricketers criticised Marnus Labuschagne, who has not been in best of the forms.
There were speculations about being some sort of breakage within the dressing room after Josh Hazlewood’s comments, But Labuschagne returned in form with a half-century in the pink-ball Test and silenced his critics.
“The series is 1-1. Last week, we lost the Test match and we were apparently the worst Test team ever. This week, we finished on day three. It’s nice that there’s so much talk about the game,” said Labuschagne after Australia won the Adelaide Test.
“It’s nice to be in the runs and help the team. There’s a lot of talk during the week, I got back to doing what I know the best that’s hitting lots and lots of cricket balls, looking at the footage where I felt like I was falling short. The selection policy and selection process with this team is very consistent. For me, it was about staying true to myself, true to how I got here as a player. Spent hours thinking about it, spoke to different people and I was able to find my feet in the innings,” he added.
Labuschagne is still the leading run-scorer in pink-ball Tests. He has scored 958 runs in 15 innings, and has an average of 63.86.
