The only thing more phenomenal than AJ Styles’ in-ring acumen is his hair. The Georgia native has maintained some of the healthiest-looking locks on the WWE roster. AJ Styles’ long hair is a 180 from how the WWE legend first broke onto the indie scene. While AJ Styles started growing his hair toward the end of his TNA tenure, the star still had pretty short hair when he made his WWE debut in 2016, as compared to today. With AJ Styles’ retirement around the corner, the WWE Raw Tag Team Champion is looking at a big life decision. AJ Styles plans to get rid of the long hair.
AJ Styles’ Wife Hates His Long Hair
AJ Styles’ family is not known to be shy about stating their opinions. After all, AJ Styles’ son was extremely vocal about his opinion of Paul Levesque’s booking of his father.
The apple doesn’t fall from the tree, apparently. Another family member of the Styles household is not a fan of another aspect of AJ Styles’ TV persona…his hair.
AJ Styles recently spoke with Inside the Ropes and shared his wife’s disdain for his long locks.
“According to my wife, it’s getting cut soon. It’s getting way too long. And she doesn’t like it. So, she’s like, repeatedly telling me that I’m gonna have to cut a few inches off.”
While he seems to have a date with the barber soon for a trim, AJ Styles plans for a more in-depth session after 2026.
The Phenomenal One revealed,
“When retirement does finally come, that’ll be the first thing that goes. Is probably the hair.”
While a haircut doesn’t seem like a big deal, AJ Styles might take it a step further. The host asked a very important question to AJ Styles, and the former WWE Champion’s response left the wrestling world shook.
AJ Styles Plans to Shave His Head
After AJ Styles revealed his plans to cut his hair, the host asked the long-locked Superstar if he plans to shave his head. Without hesitation, AJ Styles agreed.
AJ Styles shared his plans with the host, stating,
“I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about a full shave. Just go completely gone. All of it.”
That said, AJ is still a bit apprehensive. Many long-haired Superstars eventually shaved their heads too, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Baron Corbin, and Big Show.
However, AJ Styles isn’t losing his hair like they are. Therefore, The Phenomenal One is concerned about the long-term repercussions of shaving his head bald.
AJ Styles explained,
“The thing is, if I want to grow my hair back after doing that, it’s going to look very silly. There’s always that point.
If you think about the evolution of AJ Styles, when he started growing his hair out. It was ‘Emo’ AJ Styles. It was ‘Soccer Mom’ AJ Styles. And now ‘His-Hair-Is-Too-Long’ AJ Styles.”
AJ Styles Called A Skinhead
AJ Styles isn’t afraid to poke fun at his hair dos and don’ts. However, after he revealed his plans to shave his head bald and reminisced about his past hairstyles, the former TNA World Champion left himself open for a zinger.
The host noted that AJ Styles will enter his skinhead era. At first, AJ agreed because he was talking about going bald. However, skinheads have a racist connotation. So, AJ took a step back in jest.
The Phenomenal One denied plausibility by saying,
“I didn’t say that. Just a shaved head. Not a skinhead.”
AJ Styles without any hair will be hard to fathom; just like it will be hard to fathom pro wrestling without AJ Styles. After 2026, we are going to have to learn to live in a world without either.
