The Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing of the alleged rape case against ex-captain of Pakistan cricket Babar Azam till 16th December. In the court, the petitioner Hamiza Mukhtar said Babar had been in a relationship with the two and assaulted her after promising to marry him.
As Babar’s senior lawyer, Barrister Haris Azmat, has not appeared in the court, the junior lawyer requested to adjourn the case and the court granted that prayer.
“Babar Azam sexually exploited me; he drugged me and got me pregnant. He persuaded me to abort the child, and I had the abortion,” she said, adding, “He has not honored his promise after climbing the ladder.”
Medical documents have also been attached to the petition of this complainant to substantiate her allegations.
She further alleged that the police refused to lodge an FIR against Babar in her complaint of “blackmail and fornication.” This matter has been pending since 2021.
Babar has traveled to South Africa to play against them in three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. South Africa beat Pakistan by 11 runs in a match at Durban; in this match, Babar scored out for a four-ball zero.
