Second day comes to an end
The second day of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series has come to an end and it is safe to say that Australia was the better team in all the 3 sessions of the day. The hosts finish the day on 405/7 with Alex Carey batting on 45 and Mitchell Starc batting on 7. India will be hoping for a change of fortune on the third day.

India finally get the breakthrough that they so desperately needed and dismiss Steve Smith for 101. Jasprit Bumrah gets his third wicket of the innings to end the over 200-run partnership between Smith and Head and restrict Australia to 316/4 after 83 overs.

The Australia batter has regained his form and he has done so in style. Smith brings up his century after 185 deliveries and after scoring 12 boundaries. Australia now 313/3 after 82 overs.

The players have departed from the field for Tea. Australia was by far the better team during the second session of the day as the partnership between Head and Smith has carried them to a great total of 234/3 after 70 overs. The partnership is already up to 159 runs and both the batters look in no mood to stop. India will be looking to dismiss both the batters as soon as they can.

Travis Head continues to haunt the Indian bowlers and completes his second consecutive century of the series and 9th century in the format. He is leading Australia to a mammoth total alongside Steve Smith who is batting quite sensibly. Australia now 231/3 after 69 overs.
