‘We hope for…’: BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla gives MASSIVE statement amid Champions Trophy row

The future of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hangs in the balance amid the ongoing stand-off between BCCI and PCB. The ICC has also not announced the schedule for the tournament which is set to commence from February 2025.

Amid this chaos, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla hopes that there could be an ‘amicable solution’ to this issue to which both the nations could reach an agreement.

“We [BCCI] prefer a hybrid model. But as the ICC chairman is already looking after it and is in talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board, we hope for an amicable solution with both nations [India and Pakistan] agreeing to it without any bitterness,” Shukla told PTI.

“The focus is majorly on our players’ safety and hence we cannot send them to Pakistan. We are looking for a middle ground to sort things out,” Shukla added.

Recently it was reported that the PCB received a proposal from ICC and it stated that Pakistan will not travel to India to play for the group-stage matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup and instead their matches will be played in Sri Lanka. Additionally, the ICC reportedly promised Pakistan the rights to host a Women’s ICC tournament after 2027.

Though the PCB has so far not given any confirmation regarding the hybrid model, they are reportedly under a lot of pressure to come up with an agreement soon.
