Former WTA star reveals a detail of Jannik Sinner that makes him unique

Although the three-month ban from the professional tour could have damaged him a lot from a mental point of view, Jannik Sinner has shown that he is a true champion once again by concluding another truly excellent season.

The world No.2 won six titles in 2025 despite missing four Masters 1000, as well as becoming the first Italian player ever to lift the trophy at the Wimbledon Championships. As if that were not enough, the 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria also confirmed the title at the Australian Open and the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, ending the year just 550 points behind Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings (although he has played many fewer tournaments than his huge rival).

The four-time Grand Slam champion has decided not to lead his Italy to the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna this year, wanting to recharge his batteries after a very demanding season from all points of view.

Sinner has improved again

As he has done in recent years, Jannik will not participate in any official tournament before the Australian Open. He will be the protagonist of an exhibition match with Carlitos Alcaraz, scheduled in Seoul on January 10, 2026.

In a long interview with 'Fanpage', former Italian tennis star and current commentator Raffaella Reggi analyzed Sinner's level in 2025 in detail: "Alcaraz deserved to end the season at the top of the ATP rankings, but perhaps the real feat was that of Jannik who contended for the throne until the end despite the three-month stop.

What impresses me most about him is the sound the ball makes when he hits it. It's a detail that can't be felt by watching his matches on TV, but it's impressive when you have him next to you. It's the small details that make him the amazing player we all know."

The former world number 1 will also be the man to beat in Melbourne, where he has triumphed in the last two editions (he defeated German ace Alexander Zverev in this year's final).
