Shaheen Afridi’s Cryptic Message: What You Need to Know

Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi made the news when some media reports suggested he had acted inappropriately with head coach Gary Kirsten and other coaches during the England tour and the T20 World Cup in 2024. These reports mentioned that the team managers knew about the issue but didn’t do anything about it. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t comment on this, Shaheen used social media to share a mysterious message. He uploaded a video of himself practicing bowling with the caption “Rise Above.”

Previously, Shaheen faced accusations of inappropriate behavior in several news reports from Pakistan.

“Shaheen acted inappropriately towards the coaches and team management during recent trips, yet the team managers did not take any action against him,” sources informed Geo News.

“It was the managers’ duty to ensure discipline within the team, so an investigation is being conducted to understand why no action was taken against Shaheen despite his misconduct,” the report further stated.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that they have informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that they will no longer be part of the national selection committee.

Razzaq was involved in selecting both the men’s and women’s teams, while Wahab was responsible for choosing the men’s team. Wahab was also removed from his role as senior team manager due to a lack of discipline, along with team manager Rana Mansoor.

In the past four years, the PCB has seen six chief selectors: Wahab, Mohammad Wasim, Shahid Afridi, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Haroon Rashid, and Misbah-ul-Haq, all of whom had short periods in their roles.
