WWE and FOX’s portfolio of networks has attempted a working relationship for years. Both of their most recent attempts turned out disappointing for FOX. First, FOX coaxed WWE to bring CM Punk back for Backstage as an analyst on FS1. Once that show was canceled, FOX brought WWE SmackDown to Friday nights through a media rights deal valued at over $1 billion. FOX would cut ties with WWE due to low ratings. Now, WWE returns to FOX… albeit in a different way. AAA will air on FOX in Mexico in 2026!
WWE Returns to FOX In Mexico with AAA
AAA is flying its way onto Latino broadcast television in 2026. WWE has found a new home for their Lucha Libre promotion to air South of the Border. The TKO-owned company will partner with FOX to air AAA events and TripleMania in Mexico, Central America, and South America. However, this deal excludes Brazil, where Netflix has exclusive rights to WWE content at the moment.
This new partnership coincides with FOX’s expansion into the Latino demographic. The media conglomerate launched FOX Latin America last year.
Executive Director of Programming for FOX Mexico, Luis Maldaonado, spoke to Variety about WWE’s return to FOX:
“This agreement with AAA represents an important step in our strategy to continue building a diverse and relevant sports offering for the Mexican audience.
Lucha libre is an essential part of culture and passion in Mexico. We are very proud to bring its stories and idols to millions of households across the country.”
Rey Mysterio Speaks on WWE’s Return to FOX with AAA
AAA features some of the best talent in Lucha libre, including the iconic luchador, Rey Mysterio. Rey Mysterio has a long history with AAA and WWE. So, he is very proud of WWE’s acquisition of AAA and its commitment to expanding its reach.
The former WWE World Champion told Variety,
“AAA has been part of my roots since day one, and to see it reach new audiences on FOX in Mexico fills me with pride and excitement. Lucha Libre is part of our culture, and bringing these stories to a broader audience is just the beginning. The future of AAA is brighter than ever.”
Right now, the future of AAA looks to be in the hands of Dominik Mysterio, Rey’s estranged son. Dirty Dom has won over the hearts of AAA fans as the lovable rudo who will stoop at all levels to cheat to win. Many long-time AAA fans think Dirty Dom takes after his “dad,” the late, great Eddie Guerrero, another AAA icon.
How to Watch AAA on FOX In Latin American Countries
AAA coming to FOX is going to increase the eyeballs on the Lucha Libre company. This new deal will also give WWE a chance to deliver a successful partnership with FOX finally.
Patrick Dooley, Senior Vice President of Global Strategy and Creative Operations at WWE, told Variety,
“We are very excited to partner with FOX, a brand that shares our vision of innovation and entertainment.
This partnership will elevate AAA to new audiences and take Mexican sports entertainment to another level.”
WWE teaming with FOX to air AAA will make this content extremely accessible in South of the Border.
AAA content will be available on:
- Local FOX broadcast networks
- FOX Sports Mexico app
- Tubi
- Fox One
The exact launch of AAA on FOX is unknown. However, industry insiders are speculating the rollout will be around early 2026, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of WWE acquiring AAA.
How to Watch AAA In Mexico In 2025
Currently, WWE airs select AAA shows on the official AAA YouTube channel. In fact, the first WWE-operated AAA stream broke records for the Lucha Libre company.
As of this post date, AAA also airs on Space and HBO Max in Mexico. It’s unknown if this partnership will continue when WWE returns to FOX in 2026.
That said, WWE might be hesitant to be in business with HBO Max. They are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, which also has a significant interest in AEW.
Recently, WWE has cracked down on wrestlers associating with AEW talent….even if they made an exception for John Cena. That said, WWE might be looking to distance itself from AEW partners as it positions itself back into the good graces of FOX.
