Badou Jack vs Noel Mikaelian 2 – Big Fight Preview & Predictions

A cruiserweight world title rematch heads the card at Ace Mission Studios in Los Angeles this Saturday, and WBC champion Badou Jack defends his title in an immediate rematch with Noel Mikaelian.

Amazon Prime Video televise Jack vs Mikaelian live worldwide on pay-per-view.

The two met in May in Riyadh, where there was little to choose between them, with Jack emerging a majority decision winner by just one round on two cards, with the third card drawn.

Jack (29-3-3, 17 KOs) has had a long and hard career, but has been in good recent form, winning his last seven contests since a split decision reverse to Jean Pascal in 2019.

That was at light heavyweight, and the 42-year-old Swede has been campaigning at cruiserweight since 2021, with a 2022 split decision win against the unbeaten Richard Rivera earning him a shot at WBC champion Ilunga Makabu in February 2023.

’The Ripper’ dropped Makabu twice, and ended the contest in the final round to become world champion at a third weight.

A massive period of inactivity followed as fights at bridgerweight fell through, and Jack returned in May to edge past Mikaelian (27-3, 12 KOs).

The Armenian lost on the cards to Mairis Briedis in 2018, and then won three fights in as many years.

The 35-year-old then took advantage of a messy situation with Jack and the WBC to claim the vacant belt by halting the aforementioned Makabu in three rounds in November 2023.

The situation was then cleared up by his meeting with Jack in Saudi Arabia, where he lost the belt.

The winner could face IBF champion, Jai Opetaia in a unification clash.

Prediction: Jack was shedding two years of ring-rust in the original meeting, and I expect him to be better this time around, and secure a points win.

Sibrian meets Munguilla

The undercard is a threadbare one, and is headed by a vacant WBC International light flyweight title clash.

Brook Sibrian and Gloria Munguilla rematch over ten rounds this time, with Munguilla winning their original meeting over eight close rounds in January.

Sibrian (8-2, 4 KOs) has won twice since, while Muguilla (8-2) has also fought twice, losing in her last effort in September, where she dropped a wide decision to Adriana Pineiro.

Prediction: Munguilla can repeat her win from earlier in the year with a points success.

Remaining Undercard

In six-rounders, Angel Lozano (7-0, 5 KOs) can take an early win in his light heavyweight meeting with Mario Hernandez (2-2-1) and super flyweight prospect, Isaac Anguiano (9-1-1, 4 KOs) should get past Fernando Bahena (5-2-1, 2 KOs) on points.

Unbeaten super lightweight, Deni Davtian (4-0, 3 KOs) should take an inside schedule win against Lorenzo Antonio Vazquez Avalos (2-0, 2 KOs) and super featherweight novice Julius Ballo (1-0) should outscore Juan Carlos Centeno Blandon (10-25-4, 2 KOs).

In four-round action, Hayley Jordan (0-1) can gain revenge in her bantamweight rematch with Chantal Sumrall (1-2-1) and at super lightweight, Sasha Saldana (1-0) can be a points victor against Vana Medrano Yanez (0-1-1).

At super flyweight, Abel Alba (2-0) can halt Malcolm Franklin (2-1) and Adrian Boler (4-0, 3 KOs) can do the same at super lightweight against Benji Gomez (1-5).

Robert Daniels Jr (8-2, 7 KOs) can stop Tristan Hamm (0-1) in their light heavyweight contest.
