ICC and JioStar have dismissed reports that the broadcaster is planning to leave its four year media rights deal for India. The deal, worth USD 3 billion, runs till 2027 and both parties say it remains fully active.
In a joint statement, they said recent stories in the media do not match the position of either side. They also made it clear that JioStar continues as ICC’s official media rights partner in India.
They added that any talk of JioStar stepping away from the agreement is wrong. The two organisations stressed that the contract stands firm and work is moving ahead as normal.
Preparations for upcoming ICC events are also on schedule. This includes the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 that will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Both sides said fans, advertisers and partners will not see any impact.
JioStar said it is committed to the deal and will honour it in letter and spirit. ICC and JioStar also described themselves as long term partners who stay in regular touch on business and planning matters.
This clarification comes after recent speculation that JioStar was considering an exit from the high value deal. The rumours had raised doubts about coverage of major ICC events before the next T20 World Cup. With the joint statement now out, the two parties have put those fears to rest and reassured the market.
“JioStar is fully committed to honour its contractual obligations in letter and spirit. Both organisations remain focused on delivering uninterrupted, world class coverage of upcoming ICC events to fans across India.”
“The existing agreement between the ICC and JioStar remains fully in force, and JioStar continues as the ICC’s official media rights partner in India. Any suggestion that JioStar has withdrawn from the agreement is incorrect.”
“Preparations for these events are progressing exactly as planned, and there is no impact on viewers, advertisers, or industry partners.”
