The Miami Heat were off to a flying start, but they are now in a slump during the 2025-26 NBA season.
Following the Miami Heat’s recent NBA Cup quarter-final defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic, the organization is now on a four-game losing streak.
As a result, they have slipped to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 14-11 this season.
What moves do the Miami Heat need to make to compete for the NBA title?
One player who has emerged as a culprit for the Heat’s poor form is Tyler Herro. After all, the Heat’s offense seems to have worsened since Herro’s return from injury.
Erik Spoelstra on whether Tyler Herro is the reason behind the Miami Heat’s offensive struggles
On paper, Herro is having a solid season, averaging 23.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
However, in the six games that Herro has played, the Heat have gone 3-3, including their two recent losses. So, it’s only natural for fans to blame the 25-year-old for the team’s recent slump.
But what does Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra think of that narrative? He revealed to NBA reporter Zach Weinberger on X.
“It’s just a total overreaction that’s misguided, we need Tyler. It will be a process working him back into the mix. To get where we need to know we need Tyler’s skill and talent,” Spoelstra said.
He added: “We can be very dangerous when we get guys on the same page, and Tyler’s a big part of that.”
Considering Herro missed the first 17 games of the regular season, it’s only natural for him to take some time before building excellent chemistry with his teammates.
Tyler Herro claps back at his critics
After the Heat’s recent practice session, Herro was also asked about his thoughts on many NBA fans panicking about his impact on the team.
To which Herro simply responded: “Real basketball heads know what’s going on, Twitter stuff is Twitter.”
With the Heat now eliminated from the NBA Cup, they have a couple of days of extra rest to get back into form.
