Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced this week that Shedeur Sanders would remain his team’s starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Will that commitment extend into 2026, ultimately impacting the Browns’ draft plans?
It’s still too early to say.
Provided he stays healthy, Sanders will make four more starts this year (at Chicago, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, at Cincinnati), and he’ll need to continue to show progress in those outings for the Browns to buy in fully. Early returns have been encouraging, but Sanders is still much more a work in progress than a polished NFL QB.
What in his game does he need to clean up? Where can he make the biggest strides between now and Week 18? The Athletic senior writer Nick Baumgardner and Browns beat writer Zac Jackson discuss Sanders’ outlook.
