Young cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill from India saw a big improvement in their rankings in the ICC T20 International list after the Zimbabwe tour ended. Jaiswal moved up four spots to number 6 with 743 points. He is 22 years old and is just behind Pakistani players Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Travis Head remains the top-ranked T20I batter, with Suryakumar Yadav following closely with 797 points. English player Phil Salt also climbed up to match Suryakumar’s points.
India’s team leader for the series, Shubman Gill, climbed significantly in the batting rankings, moving up 36 places to secure the 37th spot. Gill is now the fourth-highest ranked Indian player in T20I rankings, surpassing Rohit Sharma at 42nd and Virat Kohli at 51st, who recently stepped away from the shortest format of the game. Gill is behind Suryakumar Yadav at 2nd, Jaiswal at 6th, and Ruturaj Gaikwad at 8th in the batting rankings.
Gill and Jaiswal took full advantage of their chances and became one of the highest scorers in the competition. Gill ended up as the top scorer with 170 runs in five games, maintaining a strike rate of 125.93 and an average of 42.50. Jaiswal, who missed the first two T20 matches, made a strong entrance. He scored an unbeaten 93 runs in the fourth T20 match and totaled 141 runs in the three T20 matches he played. He averaged 70.50 in the series with a striking rate of 165.88. The young Indian team won the five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe 4-1.
Zimbabwe’s fast bowler Blessing Muzarbani improved his ranking by 11 spots, now standing at 44th in the T20 International bowlers’ rankings. In the same rankings, Washington Sunder climbed 36 places to 46th, and Mukesh Kumar advanced 21 places to 73rd. England’s spin bowler Adil Rashid remains the top-ranked T20I bowler. Zimbabwe’s captain Sikandar Raza moved up one spot to third in the all-rounders ranking, thanks to his strong performance with both bat and ball in the matches against India.
