NFL to return to Munich with Allianz Arena hosting games in 2026 and 2028

Germany has the largest American football fanbase in Europe, with more than 20 million fans, according to the NFL.

More than 40,000 young athletes have also taken part in the NFL’s flag football programme since it was launched in Germany in 2020, before the sport makes its Olympic debut in 2028.

“Our stadium has established itself on the world map of sports with its modern infrastructure, unique atmosphere, and the enthusiasm of Munich fans,” added Jurgen Muth, managing director of Allianz Arena.

“Over the years, the NFL at the Bayern Munich stadium has evolved into a significant attraction, drawing crowds from both Germany and around the world.”

Five international games have now been confirmed for the 2026 season. The NFL is also expected to return to London’s Wembley Stadium and Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, while the Stade de France in Paris is a potential new host.
