Today’s Monday Mindset: What’s Next?

Do you ever find yourself dwelling on a mistake or something that didn’t go well?

Happens to all of us, happens to athletes all the time. A mistake happens, and instead of focusing on what to do next, they focus on what didn’t go right and actually compound the mistake by putting their energy and attention on something they can’t actually change.

Here’s what to do

My college coach taught me this: Anytime you’re dwelling on a mistake, focus on and tell yourself, “What’s next?”

And you may wondering: What’s next, Mano? what’s my next best action? What can I do now in light of what took place? You can’t change the past… but you can take action, learn from it, and focus on what your next best action is.

When you do that, you’ll be putting all of your energy and attention on the right thing, which is what you can change going forward.

So put that into practice, that’s my challenge, and that’s your Monday Mindset.
