NBA fans react as Cooper Flagg breaks LeBron James’ rookie record, youngest player to score 40+ points

Cooper Flagg has just made history, breaking LeBron James’ rookie single-game scoring record against the Utah Jazz.

Cooper Flagg had the weight of the world on his shoulders when he entered the NBA, with many dubbing him the next great American prospect.

Flagg went #1 overall to the Dallas Mavericks, a team that was in disarray after the abysmal Luka Doncic trade in February.

Despite Jason Kidd initially limiting Cooper Flagg by playing him at point guard, there was hope that the former Duke sensation could turn things around.

And Cooper Flagg did turn things around quickly, putting on stellar performances after getting acclimated to the NBA.

Cooper Flagg breaks LeBron James’ record for most points by an 18-year-old NBA rookie

Cooper Flagg had a sensational performance against the Utah Jazz, putting up 42 points in an overtime loss.

In doing so, Flagg broke two records in the NBA. He became the youngest player to score 40+ points in an NBA game.

But perhaps more impressively, Flagg broke LeBron James’ scoring record for the most points by an 18-year-old. James had set the previous record by scoring 37 points against the Boston Celtics.

Is Cooper Flagg the best 18-year-old rookie since LeBron James?

Several fans took to social media to applaud the young sensation. One fan wrote, “Okay, so I might have been wrong about him.”

Another fan added, “Nico was right all along.”

A third fan claimed, “Cooper Flagg is the truth. ROTY so far for sure.”

However, not everyone was impressed, as a fourth fan noted, “Great game but took 42 minutes and 20 free throws to do so, and couldn’t get the win.”

While a fifth fan audaciously claimed, “Better than LeBron as a rookie!”

Cooper Flagg is doing what only LeBron James has done in the past

Very few NBA players have entered the NBA at 18 years of age. And even fewer have made the kind of impact that Cooper Flagg is making on the NBA.

Flagg has broken several records set by LeBron James, as the Maine native tries his best to outperform the greatest rookie in the history of the NBA.

Mark Cuban has compared Flagg to LeBron several times, claiming that Flagg is the best rookie prospect since the King himself.

As the season goes on, expect Flagg to be the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year award, as he is dominating at a level we’ve never seen before.
