Key Points:
- Derrick Moore is one of Michigan’s best defenders
- He had a letdown against Ohio State
- Moore’s future got a big update
The Michigan Wolverines finished the 2025 season with a 9-3 record after a 27-9 home loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes that started off in promising fashion but gave way to snowflakes and a rough second half performance.
What followed was an all-time collapse as head coach Sherrone Moore was fired and Michigan fans were left scratching their heads over the fallout from Moore’s subsequent arrest for breaking and entering among other charges.
On Monday, Wolverines nation got an update on star defensive end Derrick Moore, a game breaking player who has a bright future ahead of him.
Moore’s Future Gets Update
Derrick Moore was far and away Michigan’s leader in sacks during the 2025 with 10, six more than runner-up Jaishawn Barham.
The 6-foot-3, 260 pound Baltimore native has carved out a role for himself as a stellar pass rusher with the flexibility to drop back into coverage when necessary.
Moore was surprisingly absent from the stat sheet against Ohio State as he did not record a single sack, tackle or other statistic.
His relatively poor performance against the Buckeyes did little to dissuade the Senior Bowl, a prestigious pre-draft showcase for senior college players, from inviting Moore as it was announced that the Wolverine star accepted an invitation to play in the game.
“Officially accepted!” the Panini (trading cards) Senior Bowl page wrote on X as it announced the Moore news.
“DE Derrick Moore from @UMichFootball is headed to the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl,” the page added with a fire emoji with the hashtag #TheDraftStartsinMobile (Alabama).

Fans Wish Moore Well in Showcase Game
Moore’s Wolverines have one game left on the schedule, the Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl, before the end of the 2025 season.
From there, the Wolverines star will prepare for the Senior Bowl and 2026 NFL Draft of which he is expected to be a second or third-round pick after a stellar college football career.
“Hope he shows out!” one fan said.
“This year’s (Senior Bowl) roster is gonna be (fire),” another said with two clapping hands emojis.
“Best of luck Derrick! #GoProBlue,” another added.
Other players accepting invitations included Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields, Oregon Ducks OL Isaiah World, Penn State S Zakee Wheatley, San Diego State DB Chris Johnson, and Texas A&M OL Dametrious Crownover.
