Coffee sold in 10 states recalled: Second highest risk level; return ASAP

Instant coffee pods sold across 10 states are being recalled due to a mislabeling error that could lead to medical issues for people with caffeine sensitivity.

In a Dec. 11 notice, The Food and Drug Administration assigned the recalled products as a level 2 risk — meaning the product may cause temporary, reversible health consequences.

The product, Gimme! Decaf de Agua Coffee Pods, were initially recalled in November for being improperly labeled as caffeine free, though the products actually contain caffeine.

Approximately 250 boxes are included in the recall and were sold across Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Gimme! Coffee is conducting a voluntary recall on one production lot of Decaf de Agua coffee pods packaged by a co-manufacturer due to a limited quantity of caffeinated coffee being inadvertently packaged and mislabeled as decaffeinated coffee,” the recall reads.

“In the case of caffeine, some individuals may be susceptible to potential medical issues if they accidentally ingest it.”

The package’s exterior is labeled Decaf de Agua and the interior is labeled Deep Disco. The UPC code is 051497457990.

Customers purchased the recalled products are asked to contact the company for a return or refund.
