Venue for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Bangladesh- Under ICC Monitoring

The ICC has said that they have been keeping a good watch on the security of Bangladesh since it is the venue for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup held later this October. The Bangladesh Police imposed a curfew and military forces patrolled Dhaka on Saturday, since violence escalated in the capital over the protest by the students demanding reforms of quota system for government job. “We have independent security monitoring across the world. So, yes, we are keeping a watch on it (the situation in Bangladesh),” an ICC Board member said anonymously.

As far as Women’s T20 is going, Australia are the most successful team winning the tournament with a record time of six victories in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2023.

England and West Indies have each won one title.

India however, under Harmanpreet Kaur, is looking forward for their maiden title.

Indian women team is currently playing in the Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. pacer Renuka Singh said that the team was using the tournament as a warm-up for the upcoming ICC showpiece.

“The Asia Cup is important for us because after this we don’t have many matches (ahead of T20 WC) and we will have to rely on practice,” said Renuka.

“So, this is a learning experience for us, and the conditions (in Bangladesh) could be similar. So, this is a good chance for us to get ready for the World Cup,” she added.
