The Golden State Warriors appear to be imploding, and as ever, Draymond Green is at the center of it all.
The man who feuded with Kevin Durant and punched Jordan Poole is embroiled in yet more inter-team controversy, as Draymond Green and Steve Kerr were in a shouting match during the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Orlando Magic.
The pair were seen arguing during a timeout, which led Green to storm down the tunnel and not return to the game. He did come back to the bench, but Kerr said afterwards he wasn’t willing to put him back in.
Steph Curry wanted to move the conversation away from Green after the game, but NBA fans were less keen. They had plenty to say about the four-time NBA champion after the incident.
NBA fans slam Draymond Green after Steve Kerr confrontation
It’s been a poor start to the season for the 15-15 Warriors, and an even worse one for Green. Putting up 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists, he’s having his worst season in the league for over a decade.
That led Warriors fans to say Green’s cons have started to outweigh his pros, as these antics can no longer be justified.
One fan posted to X, “We still need Draymond fasho, but the margin for error is thinner than ever. He can’t be that same high-risk play initiator anymore, make the adjustment.”
Another fan agreed, saying the team played better without him: “Draymond went from lockdown defense to locking himself in the locker room. Kerr just ran the fourth quarter without the drama”. There’s some truth to that, as the Warriors won 41-18 with Green out the game.
One fan thinks Green’s greatness comes only from the player’s he’s suited up with, and is tired of these continual incidents.
Was Draymond Green wrong for arguing publicly with Steve Kerr?
Draymond Green goes OFF on Steve Kerr, gets sent to the locker room! 😳
They said, “Green has been overrated his whole entire career. His stats came from playing with Curry, Klay & KD while he’s talked about like an all-time great. It’s enough of him already. He’s good to sound bites & nonsense, that’s all.”
Others blamed Kerr and the culture he has created. Kerr has appeared to throw these incidents under the rug throughout Green’s career.
A fan posted: “Draymond Green is a child. The Warriors have created this mess by tolerating his selfish BS for years. Enjoy!” Another fan said they felt for Curry in all of this: “Steph deserved better than the team not trading Draymond a few years ago when he still had value. Dude is an albatross”.
One fan thought back to Chris Paul being waived by the Clippers. Reports emerged that Paul was pushing for improvement behind the scenes, which led to the future Hall-of-Famer being cut in a place where he is beloved as a legend.
They thought it was unfair to Paul that Green is allowed to act like this, saying, “It’s wild that CP3 was out there trying to be a leader and gets sent home, while Draymond is imploding and still has a contract.”
Warriors fans will hope the situation won’t linger for the rest of the season, and after the game, Green shed some light as to whether he thinks that will be the case.
Draymond Green explains his argument with Steve Kerr
Unfortunately for Green, he’s all too familiar with these types of altercations. And he was quick to downplay the event to reporters after the game.
He said, “Tempers spilled over. I just thought it was best that I get out of there. I don’t think there was a situation where it was going to get better. So it was just best to remove myself.”
When asked what started the argument, Green responded: “Basketball. It’s what we do. When we play basketball, it’s an emotional game. People lose their emotions sometimes. It happens. It is what it is.

“We’ve been at this now for a long time. So, sometimes, you’re with people now for a long time, and there’s a level of comfort, and s–t happens. We move forward.”
A bad sign for Green’s future in Golden State is how well the team played without him. The Warriors kicked into gear and comfortably beat the Magic with him on the sideline.
If that trend continues, then the juice simply isn’t worth the squeeze, and we may see him traded by the end of the year.
