Nikola Vucevic mocks Giannis Antetokounmpo after breaking ‘unwritten rules of basketball’

Giannis Antetokounmpo made a controversial decision in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win over the Chicago Bulls.

The Greek Freak led his team to a 112-103 victory with 29 points and eight rebounds in his first game back from injury.

However, the highlight of Antetokounmpo’s performance was his windmill dunk with two seconds remaining.

The Bulls players did not appreciate his show-stopping play, as they had already admitted defeat to the visiting team.

Nikola Vucevic then trolled Antetokounmpo with a comment about trade rumors during his post-game interview.

Nikola Vucevic trolls Giannis Antetokounmpo about trade rumor

Vucevic believes that Antetokounmpo’s dunk was a show of frustration over the Bulls reportedly not wanting to trade for him.

“I’m assuming Giannis was mad about that report that came out the Bulls didn’t want to trade for him,” he said after the game, via Will Gottlieb.

While that may have been on his mind, Antetokounmpo affirmed that he was just trying to fire up his teammates after a slow start to the season.

“Are we 11th in the East or 12th? We just gotta keep finding our identity. If we need to get a little scrappy at the end, so be it,” Antetokounmpo explained the reason behind his windmill dunk to Jamal Collier.

“We’re not the champs. Why should we have to ‘play the clock out and have respect and fair play’, like we’re fighting for our lives right now?

“This is real talk. I’ve been 13 years in the league. If we keep on losing, probably half of the team won’t be here, and we’re not going to make the playoffs. I really don’t care.

“I just want to be available, be healthy, and help my team win. And if [the windmill dunk] is what has to happen for everyone to wake up and understand we are fighting for our lives and we gotta get our hands dirty, then so be it.”

Whether it will have a positive impact on the Bucks’ upcoming games remains to be seen, but you cannot accuse Antetokounmpo of not caring.

Giannis Antetokounmpo praised for defending windmill dunk

Antetokounmpo has received a lot of praise for his brutal honesty about the Bucks’ difficult situation this season.

SiriusXM host Rob Perez hailed the Greek Freak for ignoring the “unwritten rules of basketball” to bring the Bucks back to life.

“This is so refreshing. Whenever someone breaks the unwritten rules of basketball, they usually come up with some justifiable game situation reason to justify what they did/avoid the smoke.

“Giannis threw a microwave into a full bathtub trying to defibrillate his team’s season,” Perez tweeted in response to Antetokounmpo’s quotes.

And who could blame Antetokounmpo for upsetting the opposition if it inspires his teammates to make a push for the playoffs?
