Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was unstoppable against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Curry finished the game with 39 points and four assists. That was insufficient, though, as the Warriors lost to the Raptors 141-127 in overtime.
Curry scored most of his points in the second half when he had 24 points on 47.1% shooting. Fortunately for the Raptors, the four-time champion struggled to add to his scoring total in overtime. Additionally, Toronto dominated the boards, thanks to Scottie Barnes’ explosive triple-double of 23 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists.
After the contest, Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic had some jokes about slowing down Curry.

I saw a video the other day, when coach [Gregg Popovich] was [asked] ’ What’s the gameplan for Luka [Doncic]? ‘ and he said to keep him under 50, and after the game, Luka had 51. So, our goal tonight was to keep him at 39,” Rajakovic said with a smile.

Rajakovic was referring to an interview with former San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in December 2022. The Spurs faced the Dallas Mavericks, a team formerly led by Luka Doncic, on New Year’s Eve. Before that, Pop joked about holding the star to just 50 points.
The Maveircks had a narrow 126-127 win, thanks to the 51-point performance from the Slovenian sensation.
However, Rajakovic and Pop had different results. The Raptors were able to withstand Curry’s scoring and outworked them on the boards to help them win. Pop and the Spurs, on the other hand, couldn’t do anything to stop Doncic during their matchup.
The Raptors will face the Warriors on January 20 for the second and final time this season.
