Lankan Lions suffered another injury blow ahead of the T 20 series against India

Sri Lanka’s fast bowler, Nuwan Thushara, has injured a finger on his left hand during practice and will miss at least the T20 matches against India.

Team manager Mahinda Halangoda told ESPNcricinfo that the injury happened on his non-bowling hand, but it is serious enough to keep him out of the games. Halangoda mentioned that the injury took place on Wednesday evening, during a night training session when Sri Lanka was practicing fielding. Thushara was participating in fielding drills at the time.

He is the second fast bowler from Sri Lanka who won’t be able to play in the series. Just on Wednesday, Sri Lanka said that Dushmantha Chameera was sick and they replaced him with Asitha Fernando. They haven’t picked someone to replace Thushara yet, but it might be left-handed bowler Dilshan Madushanka.

Thushara has been a regular player for Sri Lanka’s T20 team this year. He was one of their top bowlers in the T20 World Cup, taking eight wickets in the three games Sri Lanka played. Earlier this year, he also took Hat-trick in a T20 game against Bangladesh, ending with a score of 5 wickets for 20 runs.

The first T20 game between Sri Lanka and India is scheduled on this Saturday.
