World ParaVolley Reflects on a Landmark Year in 2025 < World ParaVolleyWorld ParaVolley

As 2025 comes to an end, we want to take the opportunity to pause and reflect on an impressive year that delivered many outstanding outcomes for World ParaVolley. This year was particularly special as it marked the first year of our new Board, led by a new President and Vice President, working together with renewed energy and a shared commitment to the future of our sport.

Throughout the year, we achieved significant progress across all areas of our federation:

Organizational Leadership and Governance

  • Finalised strategic vision 2025–2032
  • Full review of our governance structure, including our legal entity set-up
  • Defined a clear responsibility split between World ParaVolley and the Zonal Organizations
  • Professionalised our education program
  • Redeveloped a new coaching education pathway
  • Delivered the highest number of coaching courses ever, with a record number of coaches qualifying
  • Included Beach Referee Courses, Classification Courses, and ITO Courses

Competition Planning and Delivery

  • Successful delivery of four Zonal Championships in Sitting Volleyball for Men and Women, alongside an outstanding World Cup and many additional national team and club competitions
  • Showcasing Beach Standing Volleyball during the 1st World Ability Sport Beach Games
  • Finalised qualification criteria for the LA2028 Paralympic Games and agreed on the competition format with the LA2028 Local Organising Committee
  • Submitted applications to the IPC for Brisbane, covering both Sitting Volleyball and Beach Standing Volleyball

Visibility and Growth for World ParaVolley

  • Delivered over 800 balls to support development activities across our four zones
  • Improved media coverage of our Zonal Championships and World Cup, including live streaming of all events
  • Increased the number of member countries worldwide

Developing Partnerships and Collaborations

  • Engaging and productive meetings with IPC (including the General Assembly and Athletes Forum), FIVB, APSO, and World Ability Sports
  • Signing of a game-changing Memorandum of Understanding with FIVB
  • Launch of a partnership with Let’s Keep the Ball Flying

Generating Revenue

  • Staffed a full-time fundraising position to support revenue growth
  • Extended homologation contracts with all our key partners

Our sincere thanks go to our passionate and highly engaged volunteers across the globe—those active in Local Organising Committees, our commissions, ITOs, referees, classifiers, and of course, all athletes, coaches, and staff members who performed at an outstanding level throughout the year and helped showcase the beauty and power of ParaVolley.

As we move into 2026, our newly finalised strategic vision—“Empowering lives through ParaVolley”—will guide everything we do. This vision will shape our actions in 2026 and beyond, and we will bring it to life together, as one global ParaVolley community.

We wish you a great start to 2026 and look forward to meeting you soon.
