Mass. state lottery winners: million prize claimed on scratch ticket

It was a lucky New Year’s Eve for someone from Massachusetts, as a $1 million lottery prize was claimed on Wednesday from a $5 scratch ticket game.

The $1 million prize was from “$1,000,000 Winter Winnings,” a new game released in October that costs $5 per ticket.

The game offered three top prizes of $1,000,000; two have now been claimed, leaving one unclaimed.

The winning $1,000,000 ticket was sold at a Racewayy gas station in Dracut.

Another person claimed a $200,000 top prize on Tuesday from an “Elf Cashword” ticket purchased in Worcester. It was the first top prize claimed in the game, leaving two $200,000 prizes still outstanding.

A player also won a $100,000 prize in Mass Cash from a ticket purchased at a Cumberland Farms in Amherst.

Overall, at least 552 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Wednesday, including eight in Springfield, 20 in Worcester and 39 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The largest lottery prize won so far this year was worth $1 million a year for life, from a winning “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket sold in Springfield and claimed in July.
