Ruben Amorim has now been sacked by Manchester United.
A Manchester United official statement confirming the news.
The Old Trafford club explaining/justifying: “With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.”
Ruben Amorim lasting 14 months in the job and yet again the clueless and embarrassing Sir Jim Ratcliffe overseeing another Manchester United disaster.
Ratcliffe the one who backed Erik ten Hag and gave him a bumper new contract, only to then sack him a few months later.
Amorim may not be a very good football manager BUT for sure he is has a million times more idea than Ratcliffe has, of how to do his job.
The (now former) Manchester United had his latest go at Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the rest of the Man U hierarchy on Sunday, following their 1-1 draw against Leeds. Amorim making clear that he had been misled when getting the job and that he has not been allowed to be a proper manager, more like a puppet, as is the case at Chelsea, where the manager/head coach is consistently udnermined.
Ruben Amorim saying yesterday: “It’s going to be like this for 18 months or when the board decide to change. I’m not going to quit. I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me.”
It was David Ornstein of The Athletic who first broke the story on Monday morning and he also revealed just how expensive this is going to be for The Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe: “As per the terms in the deal Amorim signed to leave Sporting CP for Man U in November 2024, there is no clause present to enable a discounted exit meaning Man U will have to pay up his contract in full. It was set to run until 2027 with the option of a further year.”
Ruben Amorim’s last five games produced only one win and Newcastle United have the distinction of being his final victim. Man U totally fluking a 1-0 after Newcastle United spent the entire second half in the Manchester United half.
Manchester United stating that: “Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday.”
