A new environment in WWE has allowed the World Heavyweight Champion to pursue acting roles while maintaining a full-time wrestling schedule. CM Punk recently spoke on Notsam Wrestling about his role in the new horror movie Night Patrol and how the company now supports these outside ventures. During his first run with the company, which ended in 2014, the culture under previous management was far less receptive to such opportunities.
CM Punk found the approval process for his latest film to be incredibly simple after speaking with WWE President Nick Khan. “I think the industry’s changed enough to where I’m able to do the opportunities that are offered to me, whereas before I couldn’t,” CM Punk said. “I got offered ‘Night Patrol,’ and it’s just like — brought it to Nick Khan. And he went, ‘Yeah, great. Good. Super duper.’”
The World Heavyweight Champion made a name for himself in Hollywood recently with a voice role in Zootopia 2 and an appearance in the series Revival. Despite the extra work, he remains committed to his obligations to WWE fans. “I go out of my way to make sure I don’t miss TVs for WWE and I don’t miss dates, because I think it’s important to do that,” CM Punk said. “I’m showing everybody that there’s a path that you can do both”.
He recently retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker on the January 5 episode of Raw in Brooklyn.
