The turning point came when Wareham struck twice in one over. She removed UP skipper Meg Lanning for 30 and then dismissed Harleen Deol for a duck, triggering a mini-collapse in the middle overs.
Gardner then delivered with the ball as well, picking up a crucial wicket at the death to seal the match. UP Warriorz finished on 197 for 8, falling just short in a tense finish.
For Gujarat, Wareham and Renuka Singh Thakur were the best bowlers with two wickets each. Wareham was named Player of the Match for her impact with both bat and ball.
