Alexa Grasso vs. Maycee Barber sequel clash mapped out for UFC Seattle

Alexa Grasso and Maycee Barber are reportedly being targeted for a rematch at a looming UFC Seattle offering. At the Climate Pledge Arena on March 28th, this consequential contest at 125 pounds is said to be in the works with a former champ in Grasso and a surging contender in Barber for the second time.

This has been independently confirmed by outlets like MMA Junkie and MMA Fighting via anonymous sources following an initial report by Krazy Kev MMA.

The 32-year-old native of Mexico looks to get back into the win column. Grasso previously dropped the flyweight crown to Valentina Shevchenko. The ex-champ then lost on points to top flyweight contender Natalia Silva. This is the only instance in the dozen-plus years that Grasso has been a professional MMA fighter in which she has suffered consecutive defeats. Alexa Grasso had previously been slated to clash with two-time strawweight champion Rose Namajunas at UFC 324. That was until an injury complication forced a withdrawal from the January 24th battle.

Alexa Grasso vs. Maycee Barber 2 UFC Seattle Overview

Grasso versus Barber pits the number three versus the number five-ranked UFC flyweight contender. This contest can certainly inform the title picture in a big way going forward this calendar year.

After that victory last month, Barber called out Grasso for the sequel clash. Barber enters this sought-after bout with the momentum of a seven-fight winning streak. After being out for close to two years with associated health issues, Maycee Barber seems to be making up for lost time by taking this bout after her win over Karine Silva at UFC 323.

The 27-year-old looks to tie up her series with Grasso. A win like that would do wonders to advance Barber toward her own crack at the UFC 125-pound strap down the line. The first fight between the two transpired in February 2021. Alexa Grasso would emerge with a unanimous decision win over Maycee Barber as part of UFC 258. A card that was headlined by a welterweight title bout that saw Kamaru Usman retain his crown against Gilbert Burns.
