Suryakumar Yadav Lauds India’s Grit in Overcoming Early Setback

The new era of Indian cricket started with a bang. In the first series under Gautam Gambhir’s guidance, Team India bagged the T20I series. Captain Suryakumar Yadav had a lovely start. But the third T20I match of the series grabbed the attention. The match moved toward a thrilling super-over and India registered another win. In this series, Suryakumar Yadav became the Player of the series. After the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav Reflected on that game. 

On the Game:

The third T20I match between India is Sri Lanka has become one of the most thrilling games of recent times. While batting first, India managed to score only 137 runs. In reply, the Sri Lankan batter also ended up scoring the same total. The match had to opt for a superover. In that super over, the Indian side showcased their brilliance and won the match. 

With that win, they whitewashed Sri Lanka. But in the whole game, captain Suryakumar Yadav shined with the ball. Surprisingly, captain Suryakumar Yadav came to bowl in the last over and picked up two crucial wickets and that changed the game. 

While talking about the game, he said, “More than the last over, I feel when we were around 30/4, how the boys showed character, 140 was a par score on that track. I told, if we put our heart in, we could pull it off.”

Praising the Side:

With a low total, the Indian side showcased their prowess. After struggling at the beginning of the first innings, the bowlers got back their flow and started dominating the hosts. Even in the first innings, Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag played crucial innings. Even in the super-over, Washington Sudar nailed the game. After that thrilling win, Suryakumar Yadav praised them. 

He said, “The amount of skill they have, self confidence, it makes my job easy. The positivity, the care for each other is unbelievable. After the last game, I told few boys will be rested and they were ready to sit out. They have made my job easy.”

While batting in the first innings, Team India faced some setbacks after losing a few wickets consecutively. While batting at number five, Suryakumar Yadav scored 8 runs. Standing at that point, Team India was under pressure.

While talking about this, he said, “I have little pressure when I bat. Like I said before the series, I don’t want to be the captain, I want to be the leader.”

Surya’s Supremacy in T20s:

In T20 cricket, Suryakumar Yadav stands out as one of India’s top batters. After taking on the captaincy, he made a significant impact in the series against Sri Lanka. He played brilliantly, scoring a crucial half-century in the first T20 match, which earned him the Player of the Series award.

With this latest accolade, Yadav has now won five Player of the Series awards in T20Is, joining the ranks of Shakib Al Hasan and David Warner. He has come on the same page along with the legends. Virat Kohli holds the record with six awards. This achievement is a major milestone for Yadav, and he has a great chance to surpass Kohli in the upcoming T20 series.
