A brand new Turf Twitter analysis

A brand new Turf Twitter analysis

Maggie Reiter has done a brand new analysis of turf industry accounts on .

See the analysis at Finding Turf Twitter.

She wanted to find “high-signal” accounts.

I wanted to see if I could find people still sharing interesting things on Twitter/X. This is a signal vs. noise problem. High-signal posts show me something useful. For me, a high-signal feed looks like people:

Talking about turfgrass

Contributing a mix of original content and retweets/replies/reposts

Being positive

Noise is everything else, like politics, sports, religion, or hobbies. Some accounts are noisier than others.

Have a look at how she did this, how she narrowed a network of 115,298 unique accounts followed by those accounts she followed down to 4,776 active accounts posting unique content about turfgrass.

And she narrows these accounts even further to the top 50 in individual and the top 50 in business.

Here are the top-ranking accounts to follow today. These accounts are on topic, sharing unique information, participating in the digital town square, and positive. When I viewed all the data together, the top-ranking accounts were dominated by businesses.

If you’d like to see some old rankings and accounts, the analyses I did of Turf Twitter from 2017 to 2022 are available here.
