A stopgap QB in 2026 could be the best plan for the Jets’ future

A stopgap QB in 2026 could be the best plan for the Jets’ future

If you build it, he will come.

And if he doesn’t, draft him next year.

The “he” in this case is a franchise quarterback coming to the Jets. Not Ray Kinsella’s father showing up on an Iowa baseball diamond in “Field of Dreams.”

The Jets could have about $75 million in salary-cap space to spend on a free-agent class without a quarterback headliner as well as the No. 2 pick in a draft class with one quarterback at the top.
