Aaditya Thackeray Questions Centre on Bangladesh Cricket Team’s India Tour Decision

Aaditya Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), questioned the Centre on Tuesday about why it was “going soft” on the BCCI and permitting the Bangladesh cricket team to travel India while the Hindu minority was experiencing violence in the neighboring country.

In a post on X, Thackeray claimed that although the BCCI is welcoming its squad, trolls in India are sowing discord under the guise of violence in Bangladesh.

“I’m curious as to why people who have actively opposed this violence don’t contact the @BCCI and raise concerns? Or is it just about spreading election propaganda and inciting hatred in India?” He stated.

On September 19, India and Bangladesh will play their first Test match.

Would the Ministry of External Affairs please clarify if, contrary to what some media outlets and social media have claimed, Hindus in Bangladesh have experienced violence in the last two months? If so, and Hindus and other minorities experienced violence, then why is the Indian government, led by the BJP, treating the BCCI so leniently and permitting the tour? If not, is @MEAIndia okay with the frequent media and social media coverage of the violence in Bangladesh?” The former minister from Maharashtra, Thackeray, added.
