Aaron Jones’ impressive performances in the T20 World Cup 2024 have earned him a coveted contract with the St Lucia Kings for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) season. Jones, who qualifies as a local player through his Barbados passport, showcased his talent with a standout 94* against Canada and a crucial 36* in a thrilling Super Over victory against Pakistan.

Aaron Jones already has CPL experience

The CPL season, running from August 29 to October 4, 2024, will see Jones don the St Lucia Kings’ colors. Jones, who previously played for Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges, as well as being part of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots squad in CPL 2019, brings a wealth of experience to the Kings.

CPL teams have mostly completed their rosters through retentions and pre-signings, but Jones’ addition is a significant boost for the Kings. The Patriots kicked off Monday’s draft by signing Kyle Mayers, followed by additions of Mikyle Louis, Ryan John, and Veerasammy Permaul.

The Amazon Warriors made a splash by signing Rahmanullah Gurbaz, while Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, who replaced Jamaica Tallawahs, secured Amir, Fakhar, and Imad. The Knight Riders bolstered their squad with Tim David and Jason Roy, while the Royals retained Maheesh Theekshana and signed Isai Thorne, who is currently with the West Indies’ Test squad as a net bowler.

Other notable signings include Wanindu Hasaranga joining the Patriots, Heinrich Klaasen and Noor Ahmad signing with the Kings, and Raymon Reifer, Ronaldo Alimohamed, and Matthew Nandu joining the Amazon Warriors. The Kings also signed Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Mikkel Govia, and Akeem Auguste.

The Falcons, alongside their high-profile signings, added Roshon Primus, Justin Greaves, Jahmar Hamilton, Teddy Bishop, and Kofi James to their squad. Trinbago Knight Riders rounded out their team with Nathan Edward and Shaquere Parris.

CPL 2024 promises to be an exciting season with a mix of international stars and local talent, enhancing the league’s reputation as a premier T20 tournament.
