Ace Indian spinner reveals India’s biggest challenge ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup

The Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024 in the UAE has already been kick-started as it commenced on the 4th of October. Amid the preparation games, Harbhajan Singh reveals a team that could be challenging India for the title.

Though Singh also shed light on the accessory teams like arch-rivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka and also the Blackcap women New Zealand, however, his major concern for the India team’s challenge seemed to be the 6-times T20 World Cup winners, Australia.

“I think India needs to be very careful when playing against Australia. Looking at this group, India has Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. But one match that I think will be a little tough is the India-Australia match,” Harbhajan told Star Sports.

He assumed how big a threat could Australia be despite them playing under sub-continent conditions, as they have this unwavering effect while playing in ICC tournaments. And with the quality they possess with the spinners as well, they can be handy in the slow tracks as well.

All About the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Ten teams are vying for glory, split into two groups. Group A includes heavyweights like Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In Group B, you’ve got England, Bangladesh, Scotland (making their debut in this format), West Indies, and South Africa. Each team plays everyone in their group, with the top two from each advancing to the knockout stages.

Australia comes in hot, not just as defending champions but aiming for their fourth consecutive title. That’s dominance for you! But every team’s got their eyes on that trophy, and cricket’s beauty lies in its unpredictability.
