AEW Collision Results
Kevin Knight vs. El Clon
- Knight and Clon put on a show here, but it was Knight who would come out on top. The match ended with Knight getting blocked on a Satellite DDT, then hitting a springboard clothesline anyway. He followed it up with a UFO Splash for the win.
Winner – Kevin Knight
Grade – B+
It’s a great start to the show, even though there wasn’t a lot of story behind it. Knight has a pick match at Revolution though, so good to see him pick up a win ahead of his big night.
Backstage, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron are talking about their reign as AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions. Nightingale talks about how they’ve overcome so many odds, and that at Revolution, the pair will take care of Lena Kross and Megan Bayne to retain the titles just like she’ll take care of Kross in the PPV’s pre-show.
Mark Davis vs. Komander
- Davis and Komander both went at it right from the start. In the end, it was Davis who would do just enough to come away with the win. Davis avoided a late big splash from Komander following a 619, and then hit a piledriver against the star to get the win.
Winner – Mark Davis
Grade – B
Another fairly solid match but not a whole lot of juice to it. Davis continues his impressive run on AEW, but it does feel like Komander needs to get some wins going forward.
The Dogs are backstage after AEW Dynamite, and Finlay and Connors talk about how they thought Roderick Strong was one of them, but now will have to be treated like an enemy at AEW Revolution following his helping of Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy.
A promo for Revolution’s 21-man Blackjack Battle Royale airs, with a handful of stars all talking about how they’re going to win. It ends with Tommaso Ciampa talking about how chances in the match.
Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart & Skye Blue) vs. Tatevik, Viva Van, and Karisma
- This one is over pretty quickly, with Triangle of Madness coming away with the win. It ends with Thekla pretty much dominating, and hitting Karisma with a big spear.
Winners – Triangle of Madness
After the match, Thekla takes to the mic and says she’s sick of hearing about Kris Statlander. Of course, this summons Ststlander, who comes out and promptly attacks Hart and Blue at ringside. She then gets into the ring and brawls with Thekla, dropping her to the ground. Statlander took her belt off and dropped it in front of Thekla, then took her jacket off too, exposing her back.
She turned around and then let Thekla hit her several times with the belt. Statlander’s back was red, and Thekla continued to go after Statlander. After she was done, Statlander took the mic while on the ground, and told Thekla not to be afraid of her, but to be afraid of what Thekla will have to do in order to keep Statlander down at Revolution.
Grade – B+
Well, the match itself was quite boring, but what a post-match segment! Really awesome stuff, and Statlander showed just how willing she is to do whatever it takes to show how competitive she is.
Backstage, Marina Shafir is talking about a time where she asked Toni Storm for advice years ago. Shafir said Storm told her to keep doing what she was doing, but says Storm is now doing exactly the opposite of what she told Shafir. She’s taking over Shafir’s lane, and says that she now has to step in and beat Storm.
The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) vs. Ace Austin, Juice Robinson, and Austin Gunn
- Another fairly quick match here, and The Demand come out on top. It ends with Ricochet breaking up a pin that Gunn had on Kaun after a Fameasser, and then hitting a Spirit Gun on him for the win.
Winners – The Demand
After the match, Ricochet hits Austin with the AEW National Championship belt. He goes to the broadcast table and grabs a mic, then hits Gunn with it. Ricochet then talked about the upcoming battle royale, and said he felt like the company was doing everything they could to sabotage his title reign. He said it doesn’t matter how many people are in it, because all that matters is who wins. He said he doesn’t care if Tony Khan likes it or not, but he will be champion.
Grade – B+
The match was entertaining, but it was Ricochet’s promo after that kind of made it for me. It’ll be an interesting match tomorrow in the battle royale, that’s for sure.
Backstage, Jack Perry jams a knife in the wall and talks about the battle royale as well. He says it’s an opportunity to realize a dream he’s always had by competing in the building that made him wanna start wrestling. Now, he says, he can’t fail, and told Ricochet that he’ll be seeing him at Revolution.
Toni Storm is now talking while laying down on a rug of some sort. She said people think the circus is a happy place, but that you will really “see the truth” if you stand closer to the ring. She talked about how the paint is cracked, the performers are exhausted, the animals are tired, and everyone is pretending, and she’s been working in the circus long enough to know how it really works.
Storm says that every circus beast believes they can rule things, and likened it to Marina Shafir. She says Shafir likes to stomp around like she’s the real terror, but forgets who holds the whip. At Revolution, Storm says, she’ll remind her that Shafir is just a performer.
Lena Kross vs. Mina Shirakawa
- This one is over kind of quick, and Kross walks out on top after she got out of a few Figure Four attempts. She hit Shirakawa with a German Suplex, then wins with a kick and a Jackhammer for the win. Kross was joined by Megan Bayne after the match, and the pair walked out together.
Winner – Lena Kross
Grade – B
Another perfectly acceptable match, albeit not with a ton going on.
Andrade El Ídolo vs. Máscara Dorada
- the final match of the night sees Andrade coming out on top in spectacular fashion. The match ended with Dorada trying to land a big splash after a superkick, but Andrade kept moving under the ropes to prevent it from happening. Andrade wins it with a hammerlock DDT off the turnbuckle, then hits a The DM for the pin and win.
Winner – Andrade El Ídolo
After the match, Bandido comes out but is promptly ambushed by Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta. Brody King then comes out to help, and Swerve Strickland comes out and brawls with King.
Andrade watches as Bandido comes down to the ring, but before he could get in, Romero grabs his feet and Beretta dropkicks him. Romero and Beretta then deliver some kicks to Bandido while he’s down, and Andrade walks off. Bandido eventually recovers and cleans up both Romero and Beretta, and stares down Andrade who is taking a selfie with a fan.
Grade – B+
This was really good all around. The match itself rocked, and the ending was a fine enough set up for the big match at Revolution.
AEW Collision Review
Overall, this was a really good show as far as all things are considered. It was a go-home show at the end of the day, but still featured enough to get people excited about the big show tomorrow.
