– Tony Khan explained how he structures AEW’s creative process, emphasizing both his team and his personal involvement: “I have a number of people working with me in different aspects. For me, I try to put together an outline of what I want every week segment-by-segment, and I think it’s good when I’m more involved in it.” He believes that staying engaged helps ensure that each show meets his vision.
Khan highlighted the role of quality control in his hands-on approach: “I definitely see a correlation after seven years where the fans can tell and want me to be very engaged. Also, a lot of it is making sure it’s quality control.” He acknowledged that not every idea works perfectly: “In any sport, there might be a play that somebody would bring to the office that might not work for a certain reason… there might not be a total agreement about it.”
Describing his management style, Khan called it being fully immersed in the details: “I like to call it ‘in the weeds’ as the fans have come to describe it. The more I do that, the better the shows seem to be received. So I try to stay involved.” He summed up his approach simply: “The more I do that, the better the shows seem to be received.”
