Toni Storm might not receive in-ring clearance for the remainder of 2026.
The March 18 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Toni Storm taken out by a mystery assailant. Storm was originally scheduled to face Marina Shafir in a No Holds Barred match. However, Tony Khan replaced her with Mina Shirakawa, who went on to defeat Shafir with a Storm Zero piledriver.
F4WOnline.com’s Bryan Alvarez suggested that the angle was used to cover up a real-life injury affecting the former AEW Women’s World Champion. Alvarez also noted that Storm could be out for an extended period due to the undisclosed injury.
A new report from Fightful, via Fightful Select, confirmed that Storm’s write-off was not part of a storyline. The report added that All Elite Wrestling does not expect her to return to in-ring action anytime soon.
“Toni Storm is out of action, and AEW doesn’t plan on having her back any time soon… As things stand, Storm will not be in the ring any time soon.
“Originally, Storm was planned to wrestle on March 18, but was not cleared. Since then, we’re told that AEW is prepared for her to not be cleared to wrestle through 2026 at a minimum.
“There are already plans in order for the attacker storyline and a creative direction for it,” the report stated.
Toni Storm last competed at AEW Revolution, where she defeated Marina Shafir in singles action. After the match, Storm got into a confrontation with Ronda Rousey before being taken out by a cheap shot from Shafir.
