Afghanistan Recruits R Sridhar for High-Stakes Series!

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has bolstered its coaching staff with the appointment of Ramakrishnan Sridhar as the Assistant Coach of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team. Announced on Wednesday, Sridhar will take up his role ahead of Afghanistan’s upcoming one-off Test match against New Zealand and the three-match ODI series against South Africa. With a rich background in Indian domestic cricket and extensive experience as a coach, including a key role in India’s national team across multiple international tournaments, Sridhar’s expertise is set to be a valuable asset for Afghanistan’s cricketing ambitions.

Sridhar Brings Extensive Coaching Experience to Afghanistan

Ramakrishnan Sridhar, the newly appointed Assistant Coach of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team, comes with rich coaching experience. He has an illustrious record as a coach in more than 300 international matches, including two ICC ODI and T20I World Cups—therefore, well-versed in the experience. This long run also underlined his potential while working with the Indian national team, contributing immensely to the team’s success.

Apart from this, Sridhar has also made some valuable contributions at the IPL level. As the Spin Bowling Coach for Kings XI Punjab from 2014 to 2017, he worked on man development and strategies. His overall experience in the international and domestic circuit makes him a high-priced asset for Afghanistan’s upcoming matches against New Zealand and South Africa.

Sridhar’s Track Record in Youth and Domestic Cricket

But apart from international qualifications, Sridhar’s contribution to youth and domestic cricket has been immense. He played a lead role in shaping young talents through his stints with the Indian U19 national team and at India’s National Cricket Academy. His stint at the academy, where he worked as an assistant fielding and spin bowling coach from 2008 till 2014, served as a blueprint for many successful cricketers.

Sridhar’s domestic career includes 35 first-class and 15 List A matches as a player, proving his great understanding of the game. This vast experience, coupled with the coaching record, shall arm him with the necessary expertise to create a difference in the upcoming fixtures of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team.
