Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz became the second youngest player to reach 8 ODI centuries. Gurbaz went past some greats of the game like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli with his century against Bangladesh. Gurbaz was among Afghanistan’s star performers in their victory over Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the third ODI played at Sharjah.
Gurbaz played a stunning knock of 101 runs off 120 deliveries. The knock led his side to easily achieve the target of 245 with 10 balls to spare.
Gurbaz reached his 8th ODI ton at the age of 22 years and 357 days, dethroning Sachin Tendulkar from the No. 2 spot. The first spot is still held by South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who had reached the landmark at the age of 22 years and 312 days.
Further in the list comes Kohli on the 3rd position. He achieved the milestone at the age of 23 years and 27 days while Pakistan batter Babar Azam did so at the age of 23 years and 280 days.
Gurbaz is also the Afghanistan batter with the most centuries scored in one-day cricket. He is followed by Mohammad Shahzad, who stands on 6 centuries.
