The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned batter Ihsanullah Janat from all cricketing activities for 5 years effective immediately. Janat was found guilty and also accepted all the charges on match-fixing during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League (KPL).
Janat had played 3 Tests, 16 ODIs and a T20I for the Afghanistan cricket team making his debut back in the year 2017. Many considered that Janat was handed the debut too early for his age, making the start of his journey difficult.
This is not only a massive blow for Janat but for Afghanistan cricket as a whole. This ban will also lead to reliability issues with the KPL, which it is trying quite hard to promote and grow.
The ACB also said that they are investigating 3 other players for match-fixing after finding Janat guilty.
