After Ricky Ponting this foreign Coach is also set to part ways from his IPL franchise

The Punjab Kings, a team in the Indian Premier League, may not keep their head coach, Trevor Bayliss, according to a news report. The Australian coach replaced Anil Kumble before the 2023 IPL season started. Bayliss’s two-year contract with the team has now finished, and it seems the team won’t be working with him anymore. The report also mentioned that the Punjab Kings are looking for an Indian coach instead. If this happens, Bayliss will be the second Australian coach, after Ricky Ponting, to lose his job this month.

Recently, Indian coaches and mentors in the IPL have been successful for various teams.

“Punjab Kings are searching for an Indian coach to lead the team. It’s not clear yet if they will pick an Indian coach, but they are thought to be looking at various choices, including Sanjay Bangar,” said a report on Cricbuzz.

Trevor Bayliss has coached other teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in addition to Punjab Kings. His time with Punjab Kings saw the team end in eighth and ninth places in the IPL for 2023 and 2024, which might be a reason for him possibly leaving the team.

The report also mentioned that the owners of PBKS had no issues with the Australian coach’s methods, but they made the decision due to the team’s results.

About a week ago, Delhi Capitals announced on social media that they had ended their partnership with head coach Ricky Ponting after seven years without winning the IPL trophy.

Although it’s still early, there’s a good chance that Sourav Ganguly, the current team director of DC, might also take on the role of head coach next season.

“As you transition to becoming our head coach, we’re struggling to express our feelings in simple words. The four values you always emphasized during our meetings – caring, dedication, positive attitude, and hard work – these really capture the essence of our seven years together,” DC shared on their official ‘X’ account.
