Wednesday at SuperSport Park, South African skipper Aiden Markram lavished praises on his team and assured them that better days are coming despite the loss to India in the third T20I of the four-match series. India managed to edge out South Africa thanks to Arshdeep Singh’s three wickets and a century from Tilak Varma’s blade as they won by 11 runs. The right-hand batter added that they are “ready to see areas to improve” in preparation for the fourth and final match of the series scheduled to take place in Johannesburg on Friday
“Proud of the effort to get that close. Good to see the contributions from the lower order. It was just down to executing what we discussed. This is a ground where you can chase 220. I feel it is almost an over by over thing. If you win those overs you have a great chance. We will see areas to improve for the next game,” Aiden Markram said in the post-match presentation.
To summarize the game, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first. Abhishek Sharma (50 off 25 netting 3 fours and 5 sixes) and Tilak Varma (107 off 56 8 fours and 7 sixes) helped India register 219/6 batting first, but none of the other batters managed to shine.
Andile Simelane and Keshav Maharaj spearheaded the bowling attack for the Proteas and in their respective spell took two wickets each.
Heinrich Klaasen (41 runs off 22 balls, 1 four and 4 sixes) and Marco Jansen (54 runs off 17 balls, 4 fours and 5 sixes) were instrumental in keeping the southern Africans in the run chase. However, India worked their way towards victory in the end courtesy of Arshdeep.
Arshdeep Singh was brilliant with both new and old ball ,he picked up 3 wickets giving away 37 runs in his 4 overs quota.
