AJ Ferrari heaved a sigh of relief as the court dismissed his extradition case following his booking in January 2026 for allegedly evading arrest in Texas in October 2025. He was initially wanted in his home state of Texas, but the matter will no longer proceed in its current form.

AJ Ferrari Feels a Burden Lifted after Case Dismissal
Ferrari’s college career has been nothing short of tumultuous. After his move to Nebraska for the 2025–26 season, when things seemed to be going smoothly for a while, the former NCAA champion was pulled over for speeding. The Nebraska State Patrol then discovered that he had allegedly evaded detention in Texas in October 2025 and subsequently booked him.
The wrestler even appeared in court earlier this week, and his next hearing had been scheduled for next month. However, according to recent developments, the court dismissed his case, allowing him to continue with the Huskers unburdened.
Ferrari moved up to heavyweight (285 pounds) in Nebraska and has been a key scorer for the team since the beginning of the season. He earned a major decision win in the Big Ten season opener against Purdue. The 24-year-old came off a strong season in Cal State Bakersfield, advancing to the 2025 NCAA Tournament and finishing in third place.

Nebraska Wrestling Head Coach Welcomes AJ Ferrari Despite His Legal History
Nebraska wrestling head coach Mark Manning, who is the winningest coach in program history, led multiple wrestlers to individual titles and guided the team to top-eight and top-ten finishes at the NCAA level during his 26-year tenure at Nebraska. In a recent conversation with Hurrdat Sports, Manning addressed Ferrari’s recent legal case, saying that people make mistakes and that it is part of their learning journey.
He further added that no one is perfect, and Ferrari has received more scrutiny because of his high-profile status. However, the 24-year-old is a good-hearted person, and no one can stop what the haters think, as that is how the world functions.
Ferrari made headlines in 2022 after a woman filed a complaint against him, alleging sexual misconduct. This led to the wrestler’s dismissal from the Oklahoma team and also resulted in a felony sexual battery charge. His freestyle resume boasts a bronze at the 2018 Cadet World Championships and a winner’s title at the 2020 Junior Nationals.
