Former Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has scored a century for Leicestershire in the County Championship Division 2 match against Glamorgan on Sunday. The right-handed batter came out to bat at the fourth spot in the match taking place at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, and with the help of 13 boundaries and a single six, he scored 102 runs from 193 balls in the second innings.
It was his 40th century in first-class cricket and first one for Leicestershire. The 36-year-old, who was not given a place in the Duleep Trophy squads by the BCCI selectors last month, had earlier scored 42 runs in the first inning.
Rahane, who last played for India against the West Indies in the 2-match Test series last year in July, has scored a century at the time when BCCI selectors are set to announce India’s squad for the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh in the coming days.Â
