Alberto Del Rio’s legal situation just took another serious turn, and this latest update could make his wrestling future even more uncertain.
In an update to the growing situation, it was ruled Thursday that Alberto El Patrón, known to many fans as Alberto Del Rio from WWE, will remain in preventive detention following accusations that he physically and verbally assaulted his partner.
According to a report from Milenio, a judge reviewed the case and determined that Del Rio would stay behind bars while the legal process moves forward.
“A control judge determined to keep the former athlete behind bars after the State General Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) formally charged him with the crime of family violence.”
Del Rio was first arrested on April 6 after authorities accused him of domestic violence. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the San Luis Potosí State Attorney General’s Office, where he now faces formal charges tied to the case. A mugshot of Del Rio also surfaced online after authorities processed him.
This latest ruling adds another major development to a situation that has already led to multiple professional consequences. Several wrestling promotions have removed Del Rio from scheduled appearances in recent days, replacing him on event cards as the investigation continues.
With Del Rio now ordered to remain in preventive detention, the legal battle appears far from over, and the ongoing fallout across the wrestling industry could continue to grow depending on how the case unfolds.
